Fiberglass insulation is an attractive option for home insulation in the Boston area because it is the cheapest cost and ease of use have made fiberglass the most commonly used insulation in modern construction. The millions of fibers that attach pockets of heat also make fiberglass insulation in Boston effective in reducing noise. Finally, because it is made of glass, it does not burn or absorb water. As manufacturers have become more conservation conscious, a larger percentage of new fiberglass is made from recycled glass.
SPRAY FOAM INSULATION
Spray foam insulation saves energy costs and reduces utility bills in Boston homes. The spray foam works great when it is applied to the roof of the attic. You will feel little differently about 5-10 degrees F between the attic and your common space. With this type of insulation and air sealing can reduce the energy consumption of heating and cooling between 40 to 60 percent. Your home will also benefit from a lifetime of: Better control of humidity, Reduced intrusion of dust and pollen, noise and pests, Higher structural strength.
BLOW CELLULOSE INSULATION
Blown insulation is the vegetable fiber used in wall and roof cavities to insulate most of Boston's residential roofs. Blow insulation in Boston provides a dense and effective barrier against heat loss, which is also among the greenest insulation options. It offers a low impact on the environment, while providing immediate energy savings when installed in attics, walls and hard to reach spaces. Proper installation is a must for insulated or loose insulation. Special equipment and safety measures are required to ensure long-term performance. In addition to being a primarily recycled product, the cellulose insulation includes flame retardant properties. It also resists insects, rodents and mold and forms a good sound barrier.
OPEN OR CLOSED CELL FOAM
When foam is installed in a house or other structure, a cellular plastic is in open cell foam, only a few percent of the finished product is plastic and the remainder is mostly carbon dioxide trapped inside the structure. These foams are typically lightweight and weigh only 0.5 to 0.6 pounds per cubic foot. The general definition in the open cell foam industry is that more than 50% of the cells are open. Closed cell foam forms similar, but most closed cell foam cells are independent of other cells because they have their own cellular structure and do not share any of their structures with other cells. The resulting foam has a much higher plastic content and less air / gas content. The foam is strong and rigid and usually weighs in the range of 1.7-2.0 pounds per cubic foot.
